MLCC 02 is a flow-cell with very small internal volume of 0.5 µl designed for microcolumn chromatography applications. The optical path is 0.8 mm long. High pressure stability.
Microcell MLCC 02 is a cell with a very small internal volume and high resistance to pressure, expanding application opportunities of spectrophotometric detectors Sapphire, LCD 2083 and LCD 2084 to the field of microcolumn chromatography or for applications in which high pressure in the microcell is expected. External dimensions of the microcell housing are the same as those for a standard cell supplied with the above detectors.
All solvents may be used with the microcell that do not attack materials of the microcell, i.e. sapphire and stainless steel.
The basic physical function of the microcell is similar to that of commonly used cells for spectrophotometric detectors. A monochromatic optical beam passes through the measuring compartment of the microcell covered with windows of pure sapphire, and intensity of light varies depending on concentration of absorbing sub-stances passing through the microcell.
An important feature of microcell MLCC 02 is a fact that the proper measuring volume is very small (ca. 0.5 ul), so that in low dispersion liquid chromatography fusion of separated components of the sample in the microcell does not occur. High optical efficiency and pressure resistance are given by the use of ball sapphire lenses as the microcell windows.
