UV-VIS detector LCD 2083.2 CE is our classical LCD 2083.2 detector equipped with originally designed optics (with quartz optical fibers) permitting the application of spectrophotometric detection directly on a separation capillary.
To do the operating easily is the reading unit assembled on front panel of unit or it could be assembled directly to the system for capillary electrophoresis out of detector. In such case is the reading unit connected by an electrical cable ( which leads the signals from preamplifier) and by an optical fibre cable ( which leads a monochromatic light beam from monochromator to the middle of quartz capillary for electrophoresis.)

We compared thus modified detectors with some similar detectors used for this purpose. In the tests with our detectors we found as follows:

  • Higher or comparable sensitivity, especially in the range of short wavelengths (200-230nm)
  • Larger linear range
  • Very good access and simple replacement of a separation capillary

Capillary assembling into reading unit:

Technical parameters

Diameter of optical fibre cable 0,2 mm
Diameter of quartz capillary 0,375 mm
Max. length of optical fibre cable by external assembly 0,5 - 1 m
Dimensions 50 x 90 mm

Warning: the reading unit work with very low light value. There it is necessary to prevent the preamplifier from daily light coming in. If the daily light infiltrate along the capillary, put on it the black tubing, or use a black sticky tape to caver the slits.

Capillary electrophoresis is a modern separation method for analysis or micropreparation of substances. Separation of components in a solution occurs due to effects of an electric field in a quartz capillary. Advantages of capillary electrophoresis when compared with HPLC consists in particular in miniaturization of the separation area, in higher analysis speed, higher separation efficiency, higher selectivity, etc.
